Workplace Lunch Trends - Interesting Article
http://www.insidesource.com/blog/2012/10/25/whats-for-lunch/
Many companies in the Bay Area offer the free provision of food and drinks. Have you ever wondered why that has so often of late become a cultural norm, especially for innovative tech companies? I decided to find why out by visiting with three of our clients: Alice Harmon at Evernote, Kiwoba Allaire at Rocket Fuel and Jim Morgensen at Zynga.

ECI (Electrical Components International) - CityPlace
ECI makes electrical components for refrigeration appliances. They are located in the Cityplace campus in Creve Coeur, a suburb of St. Louis. http://www.ecintl.com/ SPACE Architects was the architect.
Cityplace 1
Working with a particularly difficult area of the buildings floorplate, SPACE created a design that accentuated the aspects of the space, and minimized the effect of the building core.
ECI is a company that makes appliance parts for high end kitchen equipment. SPACE created a plan that located their company break room up close to the front office reception to create an open "showroom" effect for the kitchen equipment.
Balancing the open look with appropriate separation between the break room and reception, the design utilizes curving, sloping walls and ceiling to acheive functional, yet dramatic results. Cityplace 1

The future of office space- even for traditional firms?
http://observer.com/2013/04/amusement-perks-how-the-cult-of-cool-offices-took-over-the-cubicle-world/
“They all want some kind of cool vibe,” said Scott Spector, a principal at the Spector Group, the architectural firm that designed Pernod’s space, adding that even law firms and hedge funds are requesting the “factory-meets-art-gallery look.”
While the first cool offices started appearing more than a decade ago—Mr. Spector credited Deutsch advertising with pioneering the use of scooters for intraoffice transportation—there’s now been a fundamental shift in office design. What were once features found mostly at tech companies—open, collaborative areas, kitchens, game rooms—are becoming standard. Even traditional firms that grimace at the idea of clients catching them playing pool still want the hardwood floors and pendant lights.

SPACE- Grove Studio - Office HQ
Tom Niemeier of Space Architects http://www.space-stl.com/ shared the following photos of his very cool office space in the Grove area of St. Louis on Manchester just west of Vandeventer. http://www.thegrovestl.com/
From their website:
After spending our first five years renting office space in Maplewood, SPACE moved to the Forest Park South East neighborhood in the city of St Louis in May, 2010. Situated in the heart of 'The Grove,' we have invested in this resurgent city neighborhood by purchasing and renovating a 7500sf building that was deteriorating and vacant for over ten years. And, with an alternative geothermal/solar thermal energy system contributing up to 65% of our energy needs we're using our new home to showcase our commitment to sustainable design and operating practices.
