Pixel Press might seem like all fun and games, but fun and games can be hard work! The startup arrived at T-REX in 2012 ready to work and play. “Beyond being startup budget friendly, having access to founders of other companies that were at similar stages meant getting advice was that much easier… the likelihood of talking through common issues with your peers when they are just next door,” says CEO Robin Rath. Pixel Press parted ways with the Railway Exchange Building at the same time T-REX did last January.

What they were looking for in a new space:

Lawrence Group - Security Building, St. Louis

The Lawrence Group ( www.thelawrencegroup.com/) led the redevelopment and design of the historic Security Building in Downtown St. Louis a few years ago. They occupy the former Noonday Club space on the top floor of the building.  The building has an incredibly ornate lobby and was built in 1891.

Security Building 

St. Louis University Law School - new downtown location

St. Louis University Law School recently relocated from their main campus to a building a 260,000 square foot building at 100 N. Tucker Blvd. and was donated by the Scott family.  The previously mostly vacant building built in 1965 was completely rehabbed for the law school.  Lawrence Group ( www.thelawrencegroup.com/) was the architect for the project.

Ferguson Consulting - Chesterfield, MO

Ferguson Consulting  www.fergusonconsultinginc.com, an IT consulting firm, recently relocated and expanded in their building at Timberlake Corporate Center 3 in Chesterfield.  Nehring Design  www.nehringdesign.com completed the work. 

Suburban to Urban Office Relocation: The Future in St. Louis?

While many companies have remained committed to Downtown, such as Stifel Nicolaus, Wells Fargo Advisors, etc, will we begin to see more relocation from the suburbs to the CBD, like Shipworks did a few years ago? This is clearly a trend in other cities.
A friend of mine recently left a large company in St. Charles because he no longer wanted to commute from the city all the way to the exurbs.  Perhaps companies like RGA, who's currently building a new campus in Chesterfield, will begin to consider building in the urban core of the city, where young people clearly want to work.

301 N. Memorial - Renovation of former Peabody Coal HQ

The building at 301 N. Memorial was built for Peabody Coal (Peabody Energy) in 1957.  They vacated the building in 2005 and it has remained vacant until last December when it was purchased by ICC Engineering.  www.iccinc.net   They are currently working on a complete gut-rehab of the property.  I have two floors of office space (24,000 square feet) available for lease (1st and 2nd floors).  So, this is a complete shameless self-promotion, but this building will offer a creative or traditional firm a very cool office space and location downtown, across from the soon to be updated Arch grounds.
